"Canciones de Luna" or "Moon Songs", is a two volume CD album which
consist of 29 comissioned songs by the best contemporary mexican composers.
The songs were comissioned by Encarnacion Vazquez, who is one of the best opera, oratorio and lied singers in Mexico.
The songs have been inspired by an astronomical idea and are based on poetic lyrics around the Moon and the Night.
They were recorded this year
with an 8 channel multitrack 20 bits Sadie system and the two volumes have just been released. The Sadie is a very
high technological digital system.
I will make a discussion on the interaction bewteen astronomy and music, and in particular the work in this case
between and the astronomer and the musician,
to produce contemporary art. I will also discuss the impact of high technology equipment on the quality of artistic
representation.
A performance by the singer itself on a selection of the composed and recorded songs will follow.
