The Architecture of the Ethereal

It is the glistening sky which ever adorns my view of the world. Night
after night, glittering beacons of light ornament the soul of the universe
-- and the soul of all who gaze upward. Coursing through a blue-black
sky, they cause the heart to aspire and the mind to imagine. My work
is an effort to capture the elusive and mysterious quality of this
cosmic space and those wondrous illuminations which ornament it so enduringly
and provocatively.
My talk will center around a group of paintings I have made based on
research conducted at the Hansen Planetarium in Salt Lake City, Utah and
at the Jet Propulsion Lab in Pasadena, California. These resulting
paintings, bejeweled images of the cosmos, which structure vast, unencumbered,
spaces and fragile and furious light through geometric forms, will be exhibited,
as well as discussed in a slide presentation.
